President's Message

Dear BOMA Metro Detroit Members,

I am honored to lead BOMA Metro Detroit as President and grateful for the groundwork laid by those who served before me. The Board of Directors and I are committed to building on our successes and continuing BOMA Metro Detroit’s leadership in advocacy, education, and relationship-building for our commercial real estate industry.

Another year, and I continue to brim with enthusiasm as we continue to improve every aspect of association. With over a century of history, it is invigorating to have so much momentum.

In just the past two years we have made meaningful progress together:

  • Business building events such as our two golf outings, clay shooting tournament, cornhole tournament, summer events and the TOBY Award’s Show have been at capacity.
  • The Trade Fair continues to shine the spotlight on many of our excellent Allied Supplier members.

  • Massive use of social media and BOMA TALKS and to highlight our Allied Partners excellent service to the Commercial Real Estate industry
  • Created a non-profit charitable Foundation to administer the new Scholarship program that directly benefits our members and their families.
  • Partnered with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce with BOMA representatives serving you on Legislative committees to oversee legislation that may impact our industry.  Further, BOMA is an active participant in a statewide coalition to return the protection of the Open and Obvious doctrine.
  • The Lunch & Learn Series was launched to bring together Principal members to learn and share.
  • Launched a Professional Development Day for Commercial Real Estate professionals.
  • Reinvigorated our partnership with the Building Owners and Managers Institute to deliver quality education and a path to industry leading designations and certifications such as Real Property Administrator, RPA, Facilities Management Administrator, FMA, Systems Maintenance Technician SMT, Systems Maintenance Administrator SMA and High-Performance Sustainable Buildings BOMI-HP.
  • The TOBY TOUR Series provides Principal members with the opportunity to tour the region’s most exciting and iconic buildings and experience architecture, history, and functionality of premier properties while they network and build business relationships with Allied members.
  • Strengthened our governance and committee structure to better serve the membership.
  • Invested in the development of our Emerging Professionals Group providing professional networking and providing the framework for the future of the development of the property management community.
  • BOMADET.org, this new, integrated website is your gateway to BOMA Metro Detroit!

All of this and more has been accomplished with the support of our members, committee members, committee chairs, the Board of Directors, and our BOMA team.

Being active in this Association has been an integral part of my personal and professional career, helping me connect with other property management professionals and trade experts, and I hope you continue to find similar value in this organization.

I encourage each of you to jump in, attend events, share your expertise, and connect with fellow members. Your voice, your experience, and your energy are what make BOMA Metro Detroit stronger. When we pool our knowledge and support one another, we create unmatched value for our entire membership.

I am proud to serve as your President. Please reach out to me or any member of the board of directors.
