BOMA METRO DETROIT and the MICHIGAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

In 2025, the Building Owners and Managers Association of Metro Detroit and the Michigan Chamber developed a strategic partnership that originates from BOMA’s vital role in representing the commercial real estate industry across Southeast Michigan. The initiative strengthens BOMA’s government affairs and advocacy capabilities by providing timely legislative updates, facilitating access to policy experts, and fostering connections with lawmakers and industry peers.

The partnership meets the following objectives:

  • Equips BOMA with timely legislative and regulatory updates.
  • Increase BOMA's visibility and influence in policy discussions affecting commercial real estate and broader business community issues.
  • Provides BOMA members direct access to the Chamber’s experienced lobbying team.
  • Legislative & Regulatory Updates – Access to the timely updates and insights on legislation impacting commercial real estate, including tax, energy, sustainability, preparedness, and code issues.
  • •Access to the Chamber’s Policy Expertise – Participation by the Chamber’s lobbying team in BOMA’s Government Affairs Committee meetings and key events.
  • Policy Committee Representation - A designated seat for a BOMA representative on each of the Chamber’s three core policy committees
  • Legislative Relationship Building - Facilitation of meetings between BOMA leadership and Michigan lawmakers and strategic counsel (e.g., advising on political dynamics, legislative proposals, messaging, timing, tactics, and stakeholder mapping).
  • Coalition Engagement – Access to business coalitions convened by the Chamber for aligned advocacy on legislative issues.
  • Communications Access - Subscription for all BOMA members to the Chamber’s weekly e-newsletters (MI Chamber News) and the MIRS News Michigan News and Capitol Report (developed exclusively for MI Chamber members).
