FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOMA TAKES on C.R.E.S.T. in the 4C Charitable Challenge
(C.R.E.S.T. CHARITABLE COMPANY COORDINATOR)
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., November 14, 2003 – The Building Owners and Managers Association of Metropolitan Detroit has taken on the charge of helping C.R.E.S.T. (Combined Regional Emergency Services Training) acquire the furnishings and finishing touches it needs to complete the mission it has started.
C.R.E.S.T. is a joint venture of Oakland Community College, Oakland County emergency service units and private businesses, designed to provide real-life scenario training, combining police, fire, haz-mat and EMS personnel. The 22-acre site on the Auburn Hills Campus of OCC features a simulated city complete with bank, gas station, homes, motel, multi-story burn building, helipad and state-of-the-art training center. This unique, first of its kind facility is used for training by the Secret Service, numerous public safety organizations and the OCC cadet training program to prepare for fires, criminal activities, accidents, disasters, hazardous material incidents, biological threats and terrorism.
BOMA of Metropolitan Detroit members will work as C.R.E.S.T. Charitable Company Coordinators (4C Charitable Challenge) “adopting” buildings to provide signage, window coverings, furniture or technology and smarts in the form of skilled tradesmen and/or materials. Any donations provided to C.R.E.S.T. through the Oakland Community College Foundation will be directly used at C.R.E.S.T. to outfit their buildings and help train those emergency services personnel and public safety officials that protect and save personal property, real estate and businesses, and most importantly, members of our communities.
