BOMA of Metropolitan Detroit Announces 2002 Presidents Award Winners

DETROIT, MICHIGAN- The Building Owners and Managers Association of Metropolitan Detroit (BOMA) held its annual Leadership Awards Dinner Friday night at the Wintergarden in the Detroit Renaissance Center. These awards are considered to be the most prestigious awards in commercial real estate management in Metro Detroit. Over 300 building owners and property managers were in attendance.

Each year, the President gives out an award to an individual who has greatly contributed to the advancement of BOMA. President Cynthia McDonell, CPM, RPA, of Colonnade Properties, L.L.C. and President of BOMA of Metro Detroit stated, "We have so many outstanding volunteers that I would like to thank. Without you and the efforts of our many dedicated Committee members, we would not have been able to accomplish what we have today, such as a Michigan Coalition, statewide advocacy, an award-winning publication, monthly educational workshops, monthly meetings, highly respected awards program, excellent golf outings and many other great opportunities for networking."

This year, she presented the President's Award to the Co-chairs of the BOMA Office Building of the Year Awards (TOBY) Committee, Karen Wells, RPA, Vice President and Property Manager for Jones Lang LaSalle and Pat Wilson, Vice President of Marketing, for Colman-Wolf Supply Company. They have more than tripled the participation in this program, have developed a training session for participants and are currently developing a training program for judges.

Founded in 1907, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International is a dynamic international federation of more than 100 local associations. BOMA International's 18,500 plus members own or manage more than nine billion square feet of downtown and suburban commercial properties and facilities in North America and abroad. The mission of BOMA International is to advance the performance of the commercial real estate industry through advocacy, professional competency, standards and research.
